Nation's Largest Roofing Company Introduces Green Initiatives to Cut Costs, Increase Energy Output
November 2007, Chicago, IL - Tecta America Corp., the nation’s largest roofing company, introduced Tecta Environmental Solutions, at Greenbuild International Conference and Expo,November 7 – 9, in Chicago. Designed primarily to increase energy productivity and savings, Tecta Environmental Solutions include Tecta’s new modular TectaGreen green roof application; TectaGreen’s continuous green roof application; solar tracking skylights and light pipes; cool roof coatings, and TectaSolar’s photovoltaic cells. Additionally, Tecta’s nationwide team of project managers and site supervisors has the expertise to utilize Tecta Environmental Solutions to fulfill LEED specifications from construction to certification.
“As the need increases to find economical energy sources, more companies are exploring alternative solutions to provide their energy needs,” said Tecta America CEO and President, Mark Santacrose. “Soaking up the sun all day on top of your building, the roof is an excellent place to start.”
Tecta Environmental Solutions provide a turnkey way to lessen the overall environmental impact of buildings, and help to turn rooftops into an energy asset. These environmental alternatives help keepbuildings cooler; save energy by utilizing natural light; reduce storm water run-off; and extend the useful life of the roof.
“With the past successes of our TectaGreen green roof program, we realize the potential that a rooftop can mean, not just in terms of energy savings --but productivity as well,” said Santacrose. “These additional offerings round out those services, and working with Tecta provides the peace of mind that the work is being done by a qualified team, with warranted protection.”
All of the Tecta Environmental Solutions include a warranted roofing installation by Tecta’s nationwide force of more than 3,000 trained roofing professionals. Best of all, the energy solutions can be constructed in conjunction with re-roofing activities to minimize project coordination issues and reduce disruption for building tenants.
In addition to a number of the Tecta America companies having green roofs on their facilities, Florida-based General Works, a Tecta America Company, is also installing a rooftop which will showcase Tecta Environmental Solutions. In addition to featuring a variety of coatings, the rooftop will also include a white TPO membrane, solar thin film, and a variety of continuous and modular green roof test plots to allow evaluations of various soil depths and plants. The roof is expected to be completed sometime later this year.
Tecta’s Chicago division, Anthony Roofing, also has a rooftop “sampler” which allows potential clients to see a variety of existing roofing systems. The roof is comprised of a variety of low-slope roofing systems including three varieties of EPDM, modified bitumen, versions of built-up roofing, and several single-ply systems. A metal roofing system is also included. Anthony’s most recent addition is a continuous TectaGreen green roof system.
